While the fellows were peacefully enjoying their first night in Salzburg, the Festival was experiencing the worst nightmare of any event organiser. The leading female singer in the last night’s “Die Zauberflöte” show failed to perform due to emergent health issues. The night was saved by Emma Posman, a 23-year-old Belgian soprano and Salzburg’s Young Singers Project participant who urgently stepped in and mastered the task brilliantly! Many predict that the new star was born yesterday.
For the Salzburg Music Camp fellows their stardom will start tomorrow, after they check into Schloss Arenberg and start rehearsing for the “The Bassardis” opera performance.
Today the Fellows are enjoying a trip to Bad Gastein – an Austrian spa and ski town in the mountains south of Salzburg known for the belle epoque hotels and villas built on its steep, forested slopes.
