PRIZE: READY2PRINT ONLINE EXIBITION and 2025 CALENDAR

OPEN CALL CREATIVE CHALLENGE – TELL THE ALIENS WHAT MAKES US HUMAN?

Explore the rich tapestry of life and the ‘depths of the human heart’ by producing great artworks for the book of humanity.

THE BOOK OF HUMANITY

Humanity is the quality of being kind, thoughtful, and sympathetic towards others.

Humanity is something that you can’t teach forcefully, it comes from within. The concept of love and care for other humans is a matter of emotions and feelings.

When we can express our humanity through love, kindness and positive interaction with other people, we become happier, healthier and better humans.

CREATIVE BRIEF

Imagine that you are a crew member of a spaceship that has just performed an emergency landing on an unknown planet. Your spaceship needs some repairments and your crew needs shelter, water, and food.

A group of local habitants approaches you with curiosity and caution. Your crewmembers come from all possible ethnical backgrounds, countries, and beliefs. Together you believe that all people are part of a larger universe and can reach out and engage with each other as part of one race—the human race.

To explain the cause of your arrival and ask for assistance you need to establish communication with the local residents. Your only way of communication with the hosts is visualization: drawing, sketching, filming, photographing, collaging, producing digital images etc.

Let’s produce together a book of humanity that you can present to your new extraterrestrial friends!

Pick up one topic and tell the aliens in your artworks what traditions, sacred places historical landmarks or cultural attributes do you have in your region related to the following topics:

Love.

One of the gifts of human beings is our ability to love.

We love our families. We love our friends. We love our community, our nation, and our world.

How do you celebrate love in your culture?

How do you celebrate marriages? Are there any special costumes, home decorations, dances or food that is specifically related to marriage celebrations?

Do you have any sacred places where you can go to leave little attributes of love like colored ribbons, signed locks, special type of flowers.

In fables of your region do you have any fairy creature or a witch that can help enchanting an object of admiration or on the opposite release someone from love affection?

Kindness

Kindness makes us human and defines our humanity. Kindness involves doing good deeds to help other people. Kindness as a strength makes us generous and compassionate towards others.

How do you choose to show kindness?

Has someone ever done something kind to you?

When you think of what kindness means to you, what words or actions come to mind?

How do you feel when someone is kind to you?

What color is this feeling?

Social intelligence

Social intelligence is a person’s ability to understand and manage relationships with other people. To be socially intelligent we have to be aware of our own motives and emotions, as well as knowing about the feelings and desires of others. Social intelligence grows our humanity.

In your culture what traditions, rituals or emotions are related to weddings, funerals, births, victories, or losses?

What traditional games are played during festive times in your culture?

What does it mean to be a friend?

How do you greet your friends? Do you shake hands, hug, bow or kiss on a cheek?

IN SUPPORT TO CHILDREN & YOUNGSTERS AT RISK

According to Afshan Khan, UNICEF’s Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, almost two-thirds of Ukrainian children are displaced either internally or across the border as refugees.

Refugee, displaced and migrant children often suffer from ‘injured self-esteem and diminished cultural pride’.

We believe through artistic projects Creative Fellowship and our collaborators can raise awareness of the current humanitarian crisis and bring moral support to children and youngsters at risk.

By engaging children and young people into THE BOOK OF HUMANITY art challenge internationally we would like to promote courage and inspiration, facilitate new connections, and inspirit zeal for a better life amongst  those who need to be imbued.

Ready-To-Print exhibition can be printed by any institution (school, dance studio, theater or even a hairdresser salon!) anywhere in the world to show solidarity with young people living in life challenging situations.
