This summer, Felipe will be joining the Summer Program at Canada’s National Ballet School. Together with him, we’ll be discovering one of the world’s leading ballet schools and the city of Toronto.

Felipe is 17 years old and comes from a small town in Galicia, Spain. We first met him after our post about the Vienna State Ballet Academy’s matinee, when he reached out to share his story.

Growing up as one of triplets, Felipe moved to Vienna at the age of 14 to pursue ballet training. While his parents continue to work in Spain, he has spent the past several years living independently as an unaccompanied minor.

His journey began in rhythmic gymnastics at the age of three. During the COVID lockdowns, he discovered ballet through online classes—and never looked back. After training at Ballet de Galicia, he continued his education at the Vienna State Ballet Academy, where he has just completed his seventh year.

Along the way, Felipe has trained at international summer intensives, performed in galas across Europe and Mexico, competed at Dance Open America and Youth America Grand Prix, and recently gained his first company experience with Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater Schwerin Ballet.

Photography is Felipe’s other passion. Over the next few weeks, he’ll be taking over our Instagram, sharing his everyday experiences from Canada—from the ballet studio to the streets of Toronto.

Welcome to the journey,
