Before the premier of the camp’s Oedipus opera, Solway fellows met the President of the Salzburg opera festival Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler. The President expressed her hopes that the week at the opera camp has been indeed a life changing experience for the Fellows and wished she could see some of the scholars in the future young talents initiatives of the Festival. In her greeting speech to all the campers the President highlighted the important role culture plays in building bridges between nations and changing world for the better future. Later when reflecting on their experience in Salzburg, the Solway fellows said that after a week with people of 17 different nationalities they realised how big and diverse the world can be. They also said that the camp opened them different perspectives on many things that seemed to be solid and indisputable before the trip.
