Solway Investment Group will continue its partnership with the Salzburg Festival in 2018, supporting four Opera Camps for Children and Youth. The agreement was announced last Saturday, November 18,2017 at the annual festival program presentation in Zurich.
This will be the second year Solway joins the list of honored Swiss festival supporters like Nestle and Roche, who have been involved with the Salzburg Festival for decades. Last year the Group sponsored Mozart’s opera production, “La Clemenza di Tito” directed by Peter Sellars and conducted by Teodor Currentzis. This year the Company shifts its attention to the development of young talents. Artist discovery continues to be an essential part of the festival experience – the Salzburg Opera Camps for Children and Youth is intent on delivering fans a first glimpse at what could potentially be the next great musical talents.
In addition to sponsoring the Salzburg Opera Camps for Children and Youth, Solway is going to continue developing its Solway Music fellowship program for talented young performers from economically challenged areas where the Company operates. The International Solway Music Fellowship program is an eight month educational program designed to integrate young creatives, between 14 and 17 years of age, from the local communities into modern life through learning English, experiencing arts and adapting their cultural traditions to the realities of the new world. The Solway fellowship is offered to young members of the Group’s employee’s families in Ukraine, Macedonia and Guatemala. As a result of a two-step elimination process the most involved fellow talents gain the opportunity to participate in the Music Camp’s international environment in Salzburg. For the 2018 call the application process will take place in Macedonia, Guatemala and Ukraine from December 1st – 20th , 2017.
“We are happy to find a partner such as the Salzburg Festival who shares our vision of a world in which all youth are supported in developing the confidence and inner motivation to pursue a meaningful life path as leaders and change-makers,” said Dan Bronstein, CEO of Solway Investment Group while commenting on the start of another successful journey the Company will take together with the Festival.
“We’re happy to welcome Solway Investment Group back for another season of high-quality performances. We hope this new experience will become a long-lasting tradition with more countries and more Solway fellows able to take part in the program and in Salzburg Camps in the years to come,” said the President of the Salzburg Festival, Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler.
