Creative Fellow 2020/21
Since her trip to the Salzburg Opera Camp with Creative Fellowship in 2021, Martina Gazepova has continued to grow as a storyteller and cultural bridge-builder. After graduating from the American High School in Skopje, she spent a transformative exchange year in Madison, Wisconsin, as part of the U.S. Department of State’s YES Program (Youth Exchange and Study).
Living with a host family and volunteering at the local Children’s Museum’s art studio, Martina discovered how creativity can connect people across languages and generations. That experience shaped her current path: today, she is a UWC Changshu student in China, pursuing the International Baccalaureate with a focus on Visual Arts and Film.
Recently, Creative Fellowship had the pleasure of providing Martina with a reference letter for the NYU Film School, where she plans to continue her studies in filmmaking.
While spending her holidays in her hometown Radoviš, North Macedonia, Martina and her compatriots launched a youth video-podcast project titled “Ecologically Speaking.” Last week, we had the honour of visiting the Nexus Community Creative Center in Radoviš, where Martina’s co-producers presented their project.
“Ecologically Speaking” is a series of video podcasts written, filmed, and edited by young enthusiasts who, in a playful and dynamic manner, discuss personal environmental responsibility, the sustainable use of natural resources, carbon neutrality, and the importance of minimising human impact on the planet.
To engage local youth and give the project wider exposure over the Christmas season, the Ecologically Speaking team is now preparing their first “Trashion” fashion show — where all outfits will be created from recyclable materials such as plastic bottles, textile leftovers, and garbage bags.
