#MeetTheFellow
Mila Karpova, 15, Ukraine
We are thrilled to introduce our 2025 fellow, Mila Karpova. Mila has been a long-time participant in Creative Fellowship programs and has been strategically shaping her journey toward the Opera Camps since 2021.
Her first involvement was through the Virtual Dance Residency with Olivia Mitterhuemer—a COVID-19 collaboration between Creative Fellowship and the Salzburg Festival. Participants from around the world worked virtually under the guidance of Austrian choreographer Olivia Mitterhuemer to stage the modern dance performance In Happiness We Dance. The project culminated in a short film, screened in the historic center of Salzburg during the Festival’s opening weekend.
Mila also participated in our Ready2Print virtual and on-site exhibitions: Freedom to Life (2022), Be Your Own Hero(2023), and Book of Humanity (2024).
Mila’s deep passion for the performing arts, combined with her commitment to both artistic and personal growth, makes the Opera Camps the perfect setting for her continued development. Immersed in music from an early age, she began vocal training at four and was an active member of two musical groups and the school choir. Her musical journey also includes playing the guitar. In addition to music, she has a strong interest in the visual arts and dance.
Mila speaks English, Greek, Russian, and Ukrainian—an ability that enables her to connect with diverse communities, especially during her participation in Model United Nations (MUN) conferences in different countries.
In her application, Mila wrote:
“I am eager to collaborate with like-minded people from different countries, refine my artistic abilities, and gain a deeper understanding of opera.”
Mila will be participating in the Erwartung / Abschied camp for young people aged 15 to 17. You can see Mila Karpova perform at Universität Mozarteum on Saturday, July 26, at 4:00 PM. Admission is free; ticket reservations open on July 5.
For this fellow, Creative Fellowship is covering the full cost of the Opera Camp, which includes full-board accommodation at the 4-star Schloss Arenberg Hotel, 24-hour guardianship, creative workshops, and a visit to a general rehearsal at the Salzburg Festival. We are also arranging temporary guardianship and a cultural program for her 3-day stay in Austria outside the camp.
