For the coda, Sharon Booth stepped on stage with her students from InDancity studio in Vienna to perform a vibrant and demanding jazz variation.
Since the foundation of Creative Fellowship, we’ve spent dozens of hours in dance classes – training ourselves, observing others, coaching, or simply watching rehearsals. Along the way, we’ve met many outstanding dance teachers, including some who still perform. But rarely – if ever – have we seen a teacher present choreography that allows students to share the stage with them. The only exception was our Virtual Dance Residency with Olivia Mitterhuemer, where dancing together was an integral part of the concept.
And that is precisely what made Sharon Booth’s showcase stand out. It once again confirmed that our partnership with Bolzano Danza Workshops is rooted in shared values and a common mission.
Sharing a stage with your dance teacher can stir a mix of emotions—from excitement and pride to a deep sense of accomplishment and, perhaps, a touch of nervousness. It’s a unique experience that often marks a student’s growth and the culmination of their training with a trusted mentor.
Trust, love, and accessibility are at the heart of the Creative Fellowship community. We work hard to foster mutual respect between fellows and mentors while recognizing the extraordinary care and commitment required from our supporting artists and educators.
Teaching dance at every level – from early movement classes for toddlers to advanced pointe work – comes with its own challenges. But across all levels, trust is the cornerstone of the student-teacher relationship. When you walk into the studio, you place your trust in your teacher to guide you safely, thoughtfully, and honestly.
The relationship between a dance teacher and their student goes beyond choreography and technique. It is a partnership built on trust, respect, care, and the transmission of essential life skills.
In group classes and performances, students also learn collaboration—a skill that extends well beyond the studio, preparing them to thrive in school, work, and everyday interactions.
In her recent interview, Sharon Booth described the teacher–student relationships at Bolzano Danza Workshops:
“Our teachers are not only top professionals—they’re kind, warm, and approachable. Between classes, they often stay and chat. We also host ‘Meet & Greet’ Sundays before each week begins, where students, teachers, and musicians mingle over drinks and performances. Outside of class, you’ll see teachers attending events alongside students. There’s no ‘too cool’ atmosphere. Everyone’s here to learn, work hard, and support each other.”
And that “no too cool” atmosphere combined with top-quality training across diverse dance styles is exactly what we offer to our new dance fellow at Bolzano Danza Workshops.
Our Dance Fellowship application is now open for pre-professional dance students aged 15–18 from EU and Eastern European non-EU member states.
