Calling young singers under 30s with a basic command in German or English.
The young talents who qualify for this scholarship receive the opportunity to present themselves in public master classes and perform alongside renowned Festival artists in opera productions, among other benefits.
Founded 16 years ago, the Young Singers Project has included and fostered 210 vocalists from 46 countries. Since 2013, for eleven years, the Kühne Foundation — one of the main sponsors of the Salzburg Festival – has supported the Young Singers Project.
The selection process is highly competitive, with numerous auditions held to choose from among hundreds of applicants. Those selected will receive a full scholarship, extensive advanced training, and the opportunity to collaborate with Festival artists. In 2024, 16 participants were chosen from more than 700 applicants, representing ten nations, including Armenia, Australia, Austria, Germany, Great Britain, Iran, Russia, Turkey, the USA, and Uzbekistan.
How to apply:
To apply for the YSP 2025, applicants must provide the following:
- A copy of their ID
- A portrait photo
- A short biography
- Links to videos of repertoire they have performed or studied
The application videos must be not older than 6 months old and uploaded to youtube or vimeo. The applicant is free to decide whether they are shared publicly or privately. However, the Festival is entitled to download and store the videos from the platform.

The age limit for the Young Singers Project is 30.
The closing date for applications is October 10, 2024.
From the applications submitted, those singers will be selected who shall come to Salzburg for a personal audition. Possible audition dates will be determined by the Festival alter. After all auditions have been completed (probably by the end of January 2025), the selected singers will be offered a full scholarship participate in the Young Singers Project. Invitation will come in writing.
The scholarship will cover a honorarium as well as a travel allowance for the journey to and from the project. Accommodation will be organised and paid for by the Festival.
The duration of the project is from July 1 to August 30, 2025. A slightly earlier rehearsal start may be required for some participants.
